Sgraffito… sgraffito… Does that mean something to you? An astonishing artisanal technique that we have just learned from the hands of the masters Manuel Cardoso and Marc Frognet, the use of which dates back to the potters of Mesopotamia. Façade ornamentation technique fashionable during certain eras and in certain European regions , it is an art which consists of scratching, with a metal tool, a design on a still fresh lime surface, revealing the colors of the dry layers below.

Italian Renaissance masonry transformed it into a key technique for decorating facades, then it continued to develop in Central Europe, while using the bichrome style. During the 19th century he gained innovative momentum by introducing polychrome themes. In Belgium, art nouveau brings back sgraffito on facades with new designs and colors: animals, insects, flowers and trees. The French people on the site remain dazzled because there are very few examples to see in France!
